Mooning over Moon’s breathtaking views & dishes

BOOK NOWI can’t believe it’s been eight years since the A’DAM Tower officially opened and transformed the Amsterdam skyline forever. Sure, the tower itself had stood for years, affectionately dubbed ‘The Shell Tower’ by some—including myself—for quite some time. But back then, it lacked the allure of one of Amsterdam’s premier nightclubs nestled in its ‘cellar’, the thrill of a colossal swing located on the top floor, or Moon, the distinctive revolving restaurant that spins you ’round, baby, right ’round, offering unprecedented views of the cityscape.
Situated on the tower’s 19th floor, Moon offers diners a breathtaking 360-degree view of the city while indulging in exquisite dishes. How? Because the floor beneath you gently rotates, providing an ever-changing panorama.
Unbookables top-tip: remember to glance at ‘the other side’ occasionally, as the restaurant itself remains stationary, offering a dynamic experience.

But Moon isn’t merely another novelty experience—its cuisine alone makes it a must-visit dining experience. The kitchen revolves (pun intended) around pure and local ingredients and you can choose between 4, 5 or 6 courses. We started with a snack, amazing deep-fried rice cakes with nori and sambal badjak, as we opted for the five-course menu. This choice made for a leisurely three-hour-long dining experience and gave us three times the panoramic viewing pleasure. From super fresh hamachi with jalapeño to Jerusalem artichoke three ways with BBQ sauce. Anticipate the menu, akin to the breathtaking view, to evolve with each return visit.
Now that we’ve explored Moon’s breathtaking panoramic views, let’s shift our focus. Truth be told, neither the view, remarkable as it was, nor the delectable cuisine claimed the spotlight. Surprisingly, it was the tea pairing that stole the show. The tea sommelier, Maarten, told us that he hates the word ‘tea sommelier’ but it will help you get the picture. Maarten expertly guided us through a journey of palate-pleasing sensations. With each course, a new, predominantly chilled tea graced our table, sourced from regions spanning India to Sri Lanka to Japan, each infused with bespoke flavours in-house. They proved to be an amazing complement to every dish, elevating the culinary experience to unparalleled heights.
Really guys, go for the tea pairing and skip the wine. It will 100% enhance your dinner experience and will help you to keep a clear…view 😉
