An authentic night out at Restaurant Blauw

BOOK NOWThis could be the shortest review ever written: Indonesian rice tables are the best thing ever.
That’s it.
But keeping it that short and simple wouldn’t do justice to Indonesian restaurant, Blauw. This institute of Indo-cuisine has become famous for its authentic spices, flavours and colours. At restaurant Blauw they cook ‘culinary Indonesian’ – something you have to experience for yourself.
Inspired by the entire Indonesian archipelago (yes reader, there is more to Indonesia than Bali…), Blauw serves up the best in Indonesian cuisine right here in Amsterdam. From the spicy curry-like dishes in West Sumatra and the sweeter and milder dishes from Java to fish dishes inspired by North Sulawesi and pork dishes originating in Bali. Indonesia is as rich in culture as it is in dishes…so where to start?
Well, fear not, because the solution is simple: order a rice table.

For those new to the concept, Blauw’s rice table is a lavish spread of small plates, to put it simply. Dozens of small plates fill the table with amazing smells, colours and of course flavours. Ideal for sharing with your family, friends or lover. Being a table of four, we ordered the Selara Blauw rice table which has a selection of meat dishes and the vegan rasa which is 100% vegan. We, of course, absolutely loved the meat-forward dishes like the sate kambing, daging rendang and gulai domba, but the vegan dishes truly surprised us in a totally pleasant way. So much flavour!
Sometimes you don’t want the hippest of hip or the coolest of cool. A night where you don’t need to consider what to wear because you won’t know who will be in the restaurant, and you don’t really care (in a really, really good way). Sometimes you want an authentic night out, filled with friends, family, and amazingly tasty food. A table filled to the brim. A table filled with dishes that make it impossible to decide where to start. A table experienced only at restaurant Blauw.
