Enough with the puns. Time for the hard facts: Local Dealer food inc. is a Mexican food experience in Amsterdam-East. What they do, they do good. We feel the medal podium of LD is taken by their tacos, cocktails and last but not least: the team. Design-wise, Miami is the first thing that comes to mind. Bold colours (pink, blue and yellow) are everywhere and will instantly put a smile on your face. We hope Instagram is still a thing when you visit, because your feed will love Local Dealer.
LD is the brainchild of Jeroen Paquito who took his backpack to Mexico a few years ago and ate the best food in the world. Inspired by all the flavours, smells and vibes he went on a mission; to introduce Amsterdam to this experience.
Going to Local Dealer Food Inc. you will have tacos, a dish most of us know by now. The selection ranges from flavour bombs like the Al Pastor, carnitas and barbacoa to Baja California shrimps and calabacitas with marinated squash. A big fan favourite (and ours) is the birria quesadilla. A big corn tortilla stuffed with a Mexican beef stew and melted cheese served with that oh so delicious consomè (broth) to dip it in. Also on the menu is a selection of ceviches of which the ’tomato ceviche tostada’ caught the eye. Fermented tomato, cream, feta and mango on a crispy tostada. This great dish can even be made vegan!
In the land of cocktails for us the margarita is king and in that case, Local Dealer is the purveyor of the Royal court. The “normal” version is great, the smokey one with mezcal is perfect but their spicy one? Now that’s a must-try. The spicy habanero chilli and coriander-infused tequila give it a unique kick.
